April 29th update

Not much new to report as far as Rich's health. He has good times and bad, but the overall picture still remains the same. Last night was (according to his own summation) the worst he has experienced so far. He has enjoyed visiting with our family members who braved the trip to the Great Northwest, Donna & Garry and Sally & Dave. Their presence here with us has brought us so much comfort.

Rich has been sleeping a lot but when awake he is driven to paint. He also reminisces about his life, especially his childhood. Yesterday Rich confided to our hospice nurse that he really wants to see his mom.

We want you to know we read your messages and savor the love.

April 18, 2009

FROM PEG:

Wish I had better news to share, but Rich has had a tough week. Our hospice nurse believes that Rich's time could be in weeks. Rich, however, still believes in a miracle. I believe that too, but there are times when I also wonder how he can make it another hour. He is not done fighting and is asking for your prayers for a marvelous and miraculous healing.

To peace, love and HEALING.......peg

Here's some updates on Rich and Peg
Rich is still bed ridden, but with the help of 2 people and a lift he is able to get into his power wheelchair. He is still battling an infection. He has diminished and gurgling sounds in his left lung, which the hospice nurse is concerned about. He (and Peg) are both very depressed right now. This entire situation is emotionally and physically exhausting (not to mention financially). Hospice isn't providing as much care as we had hoped for and we've had to pay for aides more than we had initially planned to do. Many of you have asked "How are Rich and Peg doing?" and i guess the answer is "surviving."

Peace
Rachael
